Starting out in Manchester, Sean formed the band Diving Station, releasing three EPs and a debut album before the group parted ways to pursue new creative endeavours. He then turned his focus to production, working with a range of Manchester artists, including cellist and artist Lili Holland-Fricke.

Their collaboration led to an album released on Melodic Records, expanding Sean’s sound into immersive landscapes of processed cello, vocals and guitar. Around the same time, a move to London introduced him to traditional folk sessions and the banjo, deepening his love of acoustic instruments, live performance, and the musical connection that emerges when musicians play together.

His debut solo album, ‘Closing Night’, is a reflection of this time. Working out of his bedroom in Greenwich at the time, Sean did what he could to keep live performance and collaboration at the centre of this record. This involved a lot of improvisation, heavy use of cassette recorders, and a commitment to keeping performances intact, ‘comping’ and edited only when necessary.

Outside of his solo work, Sean spends the majority of his time producing artists in London, currently working with artists such as Bonnie Kemplay, Bertie Newman, and Luca Wilding. Sean has also spent a lot of time touring over the last few years as a session guitarist and banjo player, for artists such as Eleni Drake, and Memorial.
