We hope you are all having a great summer, we had a lovely time catching up with some of you and old friends at Shrewsbury Folk Festival this weekend!
So it’s that time again, the Hudson Club exclusive this month comes from Jon Boden & The Remnant Strings.
Jon’s 2021 album ‘Last Mile Home’ completes a trilogy of post-climate change albums which started with Songs From the Floodplain in 2009 and followed on with Afterglow in 2017. The final part in the series, Last Mile Home, describes a journey from moor to coast in a landscape empty of human life but overflowing with nature. A meditation on solitude, memory and nature, the album was recorded during the spring/summer of 2020 and is full of the sounds and images of the landscape reclaiming an abandoned World.
Back in March 2020 Jon was joined by the wonderful Remnant Strings (featuring our very own Helen on viola) and Edith the phonograph player to perform ‘Last Mile Home’, in full, filmed and recorded in the factory where the story first began.
So checkout the concert film and the entire audio recording on the club portal or bandcamp, there are even a couple of tracks from Songs From the Floodplain and Afterglow too.
Thanks for subscribing as always, there’s plenty going on here at Hudson per usual, you might have seen that over the next 6 weeks or so you’ll be getting access to the new Spiers & Boden album as well as a new record from Karine Polwart & Dave Milligan.
