It’s that time again to present our Hudson Club monthly exclusive. How are you finding them so far? If you haven’t been keeping up with us you should checkout all the previous exclusives from Karine Polwart, Spiers & Boden, Jon Boden & The Remnant Strings, M G Boulter and Neil McSweeney!!
This month we have our favourite bass player and the guy you see backing up most of the folk scene, Ben Nicholls. Ben plays bass for the likes of Seth Lakeman, Nadine Shah, Cara Dillon, Martin Simpson, Jon Boden, Sam Sweeney…the list is painfully long, you might have even spotted him in the Netflix film ‘Wild Rose’ playing (Wild) Eric the bass player in Jessie Buckley’s country band. Not only is Ben a fantastic bassist he’s a multi instrumentalist and songwriter, performing with his own band Kings of the South Seas (See Hudson Records release ‘Franklin’) and solo project Dennis Hopper Choppers.
For the September exclusive Ben has shared three ‘works in progress’ from a forthcoming (if he ever finishes it) album, plus a cool video around the streets of Worthing where he lives.
Check it all out on bandcamp or here in the Hudson Club.
There’s loads of amazing music, podcasts, videos and more on the club, Helen is busy adding new listening club podcasts, have you listened to the Inside Tracks podcasts yet, they’re pretty cool too! On top of all that you’ll get access to the new Karine Polwart & Dave Milligan album tomorrow, it is stunning, and I’ll try grab an exclusive video from John & Jon on the Spiers & Boden tour as well.
