It’s great to be kicking off 2024 with a brilliant 3 track exclusive from the fantastic singer and multi-instrumentalist Jim Molyneux. Jim is a member of The Lost Words: Spell Songs project and you can hear him on their recent digital album ‘Gifts of Light’, which was released on Hudson Records December 2023.
Over the past few years, his session work has included collaborations with an impressive roster of artists, such as Barry Can't Swim, Laufey, Lucy Rose, Tom Grennan, Cian Ducrot, Bow Anderson, Izzy Bizu, Grace Davies, and many more.
He recently arranged and orchestrated five songs for The Lost Words: Spell SongsBBC Prom, where he joined forces with the Northern Sinfonia and VOTRE choir. This memorable live performance was shared with a wide audience via BBC Radio 3, broadcast from The Sage, Gateshead.
'Here is a section of three tracks, from my solo EP which will be entitled “Spiralling Down Through the Blue.”
These are songs which have been written over the course of the past year, and explore topics of love and loss, of modernity and conformity and of the feeling of complete overwhelm which often accompanies living in a city of 9 million people. The vocals were all recorded in my room in my flat in East London, and I’m delighted to feature Junia Lin and Simmy Singh on violin, and Adam Chatterton on trumpet and flugel.
I’ve been sat on these songs for a while and I’m very grateful to Andy and Helen at Hudson Records for giving me the opportunity to finish them off this month - I’m excited for you all to hear them!’ Jim
