We hope you've all survived the February storms. We’re very happy to bring you this month’s exclusive from the brilliant Heal & Harrow following the February release of their debut album. Rachel and Lauren are firmly established as two of Scotland’s most celebrated folk musicians and we feel very lucky to have them in the Hudson family, both with their bands The Furrow Collective and Salt House being signed to Hudson Records and many of their other projects distributed by Hudson.
They have collaborated on each other’s projects for many years, and it’s great to hear them come together as a duo for the first time on this project.
Check out the video on the club portal or download/stream the audio if you prefer to listen as you’re out and about!
An Introduction to Heal & Harrow with readings from the stories that inspired the music and live acoustic versions of tracks from their debut album.
The 16th and 17th Century Scottish Witch Trials were one of the darkest periods of Scotland’s history. An estimated 2500 people were executed, 80% of which were thought to have been women. In this new project, Rachel Newton and Lauren MacColl pay a humanising tribute to these women while also exploring historical beliefs in the supernatural and modern day parallels in our society.
Thanks to Rachel & Lauren for sharing this insight into the project with us. If you enjoy the exclusive ‘Heal & Harrow’ is out now and available from their website.
