Hi,
This month’s exclusive comes from the wonderful Sheffield based cellist Liz Hanks in the form of a beautifully crafted film of the accompanying audio walk of Land, her debut album. The exclusive is a video of the full walk around our amazing city, available to watch on the portal or via a private Youtube link. We have taken the audio of the video for you to enjoy on Bandcamp but to make the most of the exclusive we recommend watching the full video.
This film and audio walk take you on a slow journey through the landscapes that inspired Liz Hanks' album ‘Land'. Beginning in Meersbrook, Sheffield, where the shape of the valley still defines the land, the film traces a route from the present into imagined pasts, into both urban and natural worlds, from vast cityscapes through ancient woodland and into a lost valley.
With words written by poet Sally Goldsmith and narrated by Sally Doherty, ‘Land' reflects on what remains, what has been lost, and the layered stories held within a city built on rivers, hills, and valleys.
