Here we go, another cracking new release for you this autumn, this time from the wonderful Salt House.

Separated by the North Sea during the pandemic, as a band Salt House were greatly missing the thing they love most - creating music in a room together. In the depths of winter they decided to try writing new songs together on zoom. It came with it's challenges and distractions - Ewan and Lauren grappling with mediocre broadband in the rural Highlands, Jenny disappearing off camera when she spotted orca out of her window in Shetland. Still unable to travel far in the spring, they sent their songs on a journey they couldn't physically follow - to musicians whose work they greatly admire. The EP features Maija Kauhanen, Dean Honer, Cahalen Morrison, Petter Frost Fadnes and Olav Luksengård Mjelva. Their magic and the mixes of Andy Bell brought these songs to life; songs born out of strange days, a long winter, but ultimately from a complete necessity to create.

You can also buy a tree from Trees For Life, rewilding the Scottish Highlands and helping to offset some carbon involved in the making and production of this music.

The Parting Glass was originally commissioned by Peter Hanington of BBC Radio 4 for a Today programme curated by (the legend that is) Margaret Atwood. Margaret requested it in minding of her late husband, Graeme Gibson.

Salt House are on tour for the next couple of weeks, including a Live To Your Living Room stream, we can't wait to see them here in Sheffield. Jenny Sturgeon is also out on tour with the music from her amazing album 'The Living Mountain' this November, complete with projection!
