We are making a new album with Emily Portman and we are asking for your help in funding its recording and release!

The money raised through kickstarter will contribute to studio and production costs, manufacturing of a CD Book and vinyl, PR, artwork and the release campaign.

This is the first kickstarter we have done with Emily, and it's a great way to make sure we can make an album of high quality and pay everyone involved fairly, whilst building a community with project backers and providing you with rewards for your support! We have lots of rewards on offer, from exclusive first listens and physical copies of the beautiful Book CD/vinyl, all the way to concert, Workshop and reward bundles!

After recently experiencing the indignity of two fake AI “album releases” in Emily's name, we are more determined than ever to share the real album — one that celebrates human connection and the power of storytelling and song.

The Dominion of Spells is Emily's first solo release in a decade — a project she's been dreaming of for years. It follows a heroine’s journey through the woods at midlife, navigating spells of entrapment and liberation in search of a new path and a new skin.

These songs explore transformation: confronting burnout, misogyny, miscarriage, and PMDD, and weaving those experiences with the rich imagery of folktales and ballads. The album charts a search to rediscover wonder — meeting selkies, fairy queens, and fox-women along the way.

The title reclaims “Dominion of Spells,” a phrase once used to pathologise women as “disordered,” and transforms it into a realm where magic empowers, wonder is revealed, and creativity becomes an act of liberation.
