Penpals since 2021, Jenny Sturgeon and M G Boulter have created a profound musical conversation between their respective homes of Shetland and Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
Catch-ups held online between Sturgeon and Boulter, amidst their own tours, recording sessions, and lives, came together over months and years to form the songs which unfold over Wild Convenor.
The songs reflect the topics that naturally came up in their conversations, from meditations on travel (Holding Patterns) and family (Jason), to idle talk about trips taken and wonders seen (Flint Knapped).
Each track was pieced together from melodies which began as voice memos, or fragments of lyrics emailed to each other for revision. Wild Convenor is the culmination of the moments between the busyness, when two songwriters had time to sit and see what they could make of the world.
